The Swansea Club

Michele & Gerry

The South Wales Swiss Society(SWSS)was created in 1997 after a chance meeting of three Swiss in Swansea. It was the first Swiss Society in Wales. It was and still is an informal Club with an organising team who have organised two to three yearly events over the last ten years,in December a Christmas Partyin Swansea and a Summer pic-nic or BBQ at various locations in South Wales and an day out for the family at the Llangorse activity centre in the Brecon Beacons.

2007 marked the 10th anniversary of the Club.As a coincidence 2007 also marked the opening of the first Swiss Consulate in Cardiff. And 2007 also was the beginning of two new Clubs in Wales: The Cardiff Swiss Club, created in March and the Pembrokeshire Swiss Club created in July 2007. As new Clubs emerged SWSS became the official Umbrella Society for all Clubs in South Wales and the Swansea Swiss now call their Club: the Swansea Club. The Club has ca 40 members and is growing. Since the creation of these new Clubs the Swansea Club coordinates its events with Cardiff and Pembrokeshire and joins in some of their activities and vica versa.
